One thing we have to understand is that medical care is not all about choice
sometimes there isn't even time to choose, but having the choice when there is no emergency is definitely proper and needed for innovation and overall freedom. That being said, giving total control in leviathan style to a central government agency is not necessarily the way to go. Maybe it would be better to do it by state and gear any support more locally since it is unconstitutional in terms of where responsibility lies and we are already putting too much power at the Fed level as it is. We have to look at choice again utilizing the avenue of Charities and maybe localized citizen pools to handle extreme care or expensive treatments. One thing everyone can agree on is something has to be done. Let's look at this viewpoint and go from there...

In March 2009, President Barack Obama said, "If there is a way of getting this done where we're driving down costs and people are getting health insurance at an affordable rate, and have choice of doctor, have flexibility in terms of their plans, and we could do that entirely through the market, I'd be happy to do it that way." In a new paper, Cato scholar Michael F. Cannon explains how letting workers control their health care dollars and tearing down regulatory barriers to competition would control costs, expand choice, improve health care quality, and make health coverage more secure.
