Brutality may not be systemic or even the case
but a lack of proper Training or Trainees might be... Maybe the standards to become an officer need to be looked at. We all said at one point or another that some cops just shouldn't be cops and this cop, who is still on active duty,might be the perfect Poster Boy for this attitude...He was supposed to be protecting and serving...
and not serving up body slams to 84 year old seniors
Regardless of what the old guy may have been doing is almost irrelevant at that age and according to witnesses and people that know him was nothing violent. Still, I don't care if the old man even took a swing, He's 84 and inebriated, your a young cop and if you can't handle a simple situation like this then maybe you should be a librarian. One bartender working at the Caboose lounge speaking as a citizen said she would not even want this officer protecting her plants if he can't even handle himself properly in a scuffle like this. One witness posed the question... what if a 5 year old kicked this officer in the shin would his reaction have been the same? Maybe?
The real culprits
in my view are the store owners. If they used a little more thought and neighborly attitude in dealing with this situation then this might not have happened.... more on that later
