Tis said that...

but Do We?... ultimately, though we wouldn't know it by our own attitudes about governance. Yes, WE call the shots,

...but we all need to keep in mind that things here shouldn't always be based on populus driven majorites...WE ARE NOT a Democracy... Last time we checked America was still a Constitutional Republic based on the rule of law and the democratic principles of Federalism which also means the FED doesn't CALL ALL the SHOTS EITHER! EVERY Citizen, especially those in favor of the Federal government wiping their windshields should keep in mind that our Bill of Rights was forced into the constitution by the ANTI Federalists who never wanted an overarching ,over-powerful FED.

We're supposed to worry about issues from the bottom up, NOT the top down.

In a perfect world, we are to govern our own individual affairs properly and respectfully and then choose the right representatives at all levels of government, local, County, State, and Federal to deal with overarching issues and THEY are supposed to do what's right. (we'll come back to that one)... and all should be protecting our state and federal Constitutions at every level. Therefore we need to base our choices on ethics and principles and NOT on our own populist whims and needs because if we vote the latter and only elect people that promise us the silver bullet then WE WILL end up shooting ourselves in the foot with it... limp off into history and only be remembered as a failed attempt at self government and an example that free choice didn't work. What will YOU choose?

In THIS Constitutional Republic WE are the COPS... at least we're supposed to be... Citizens Overseeing Public Service

Government is OF THE PEOPLE and BY the PEOPLE and comprised of our fellow citizens who, as we know, are not perfect. Therefore, we're supposed to be making sure our representation is legislating properly. Our politicians and lawyers get a bad wrap, but not all are bad and are an important part of upholding our freedoms. We just have to understand the issues that they deal with better and make sure everyone is on the same page. When things get out of hand it's usually comes from the influence of power or loud voices in the electorate that want special treatment. Along the way, the Butchers, Bakers, Candlestick Makers,Teachers, Students, Doctors, Nurses, EMTs, Scientists, mad and otherwise, Housewives, Astronauts, Business Owners, Day Laborers, etc. etc. have been somewhat complacent at times and allowed legislators with a Top Down ruling mentality to continually socially engineer the rest of us. A little social engineering might be good at times, but we need to be mindful of long term, negative ramifications on society.

We all need to chip in and share experiences of how laws are effecting our lives. Perhaps WE'RE not doing the best job. Some try their best, but more of us need to.

If you feel a need to help, start here and help advance what's RIGHT and help stop or repeal Laws that are WRONG. You wouldn't know it by how many people disregard their civic duty and are so disinterested in politics, but this country was founded on the principle of self governance. Starting with ourselves, the individuals, taking care of business in and around our lives is of most importance. After that, there is the need to organize with others for the benefit of the community, either to pass laws or to stop laws from being passed. Become a real Citizen and Oversee those that actually take part in Public Service. Good and Bad. Just because you're not interested doesn't stop other citizens from passing laws that effect you. They will whether you like it or not.

Let's use this site to come to a deeper understanding of how laws expand freedom but can also snuff it out all too quickly!
